Badge Design - Last Chance U

Greg Whiteley’s Netflix series Last Chance U: Basketball chronicles the stories of one nation’s best community college basketball teams, the East Los Angeles Community College Huskies. The show’s premise is resounding to me. It’s a show about basketball, and I love basketball. It’s also a show about second chances; I‘ve certainIly needed a few of those.

For most community colleges in the Los Angeles area, funding is tight, and athletic programs only get a visual facelift every five to ten years. Inspired by the show, I wanted to create something up-to-date for each school in Los Angeles’s South Coast Conference that had a multitude of different uses. Each badge in this collection honors a landmark of its schools surrounding area while incorporating school colors, mascots, and motifs.
